Central Station Main Works: Rail Infrastructure Project

Central Station is an underground station, about 27 metres below ground level, located within the existing Central Station precinct.

AJM United were part of the Central Station project, Sydney Metro largest project. Our company was contracted by Laing o Rourke on delivering different scopes on the project.

The project was vast in scope with many different location and consisted of many hazards with different challenges, including the general public, the existing train lines & trains and the high voltage overhead power lines. Each and every task needed to be planned with precise details, construction Methodologies and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) were the key tools to ensuring all the Hazards are identified and proper controls such as L5 permits, are established and implemented.

One of our most successful milestone on the project was been part of the capping beam possession works for platform 12, as the whole project team including AJM United had twelve days to demolish the existing platform, excavate and construct the capping beam, and install new hoarding on platform 12 fitted with all the platform equipment to service the general public and ensure access is opened by New Year Eve.

AJM United had around the clock crews to ensure we completed our part of supply and installation, ensuring we meet the possession milestone to allow for the next phase of works. The possession was a success and with the joint effort of all parties involved, Laing O Rourke were able to handover to Sydney Trains and open for New Years Eve. AJM United shared many other great accomplishments with Laing O Rourke on the central station project where time was a major factor, and on budget.

The biggest achievement of all was there was no injures or incidents record on the project by AJM United, our KPI of ZERO Harm to All.
