Western Sydney Stadium (WSS)

AJM United were part of the Western Sydney Stadium with Lend Lease, and responsible for constructing the western grandstand under a GC21 contract.

The western grandstand roof consisted of approximately 800t of structural steel. The project schedule was tight and the painting of two different AKZO Nobel paint systems was a challenge, it required the establishment of a stringent identification & traceability tagging system and around the clock shifts to meet project schedule. The western Grandstand consisted of managing over 5000 steel items large and small, all connections on the project were splice joints and friction type.

A streamline system was established to ensure incoming materials were organised and separated and immediately sent to the area of work where the same task is repeated, this also involved communication with Southern Steel supplier to deliver priorities and by identification of typical sections.

Communication between the site and AJM was also vital to the project success, working as one team AJM United achieved the project milestone dates and also made sure to meet the highest quality standards.The NSW Government inspector was pleased with AJM United overall quality, the feedback to Lendlease was great, and more important no rework.
