Western Grandstand — 800t Structural Steel
AJM United were engaged by Lend Lease under a GC21 contract to construct the western grandstand roof at Western Sydney Stadium — one of NSW's most iconic new sporting venues. The roof alone consisted of approximately 800 tonnes of structural steel.
Milestones engineered into delivery.
Quantifiable wins from a programme delivered to the highest engineering, safety and environmental standards.
The Challenge.
The painting of two different AKZO Nobel paint systems required a stringent identification and traceability tagging system and around-the-clock shifts to meet the project schedule. Managing over 5,000 steel items — all connections being splice joints and friction type — demanded a streamlined system for incoming material organisation, separation, and prioritisation in coordination with Southern Steel supplier.

Delivered. Safely. On time.
All project milestone dates achieved. NSW Government inspector praised AJM United's overall quality; feedback to Lend Lease was outstanding. Zero rework. The project remains a benchmark for AJM United's capability in complex building infrastructure.
