Sydney Metro — Structural Steel Supply & Installation
Sydney Metro — Structural Steel Supply & Installation
AJM United were engaged by Laing O'Rourke on Sydney Metro's largest project — Central Station. The underground station sits approximately 27 metres below ground level within the existing Central Station precinct. AJM United delivered multiple scopes across a project vast in scale, variety of hazards, and tight time constraints.
Milestones engineered into delivery.
Quantifiable wins from a programme delivered to the highest engineering, safety and environmental standards.
The Challenge.
Every task required precise planning with detailed Construction Methodologies and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), given the presence of the general public, live train lines, and high-voltage overhead power lines. The most critical milestone was the capping beam possession for Platform 12: the entire project team had just 12 days to demolish the existing platform, excavate, construct the capping beam, install new hoarding, and fit all platform equipment to allow public access on New Year's Eve.
